OVERVIEW

A 10-week workshop-to-show course that builds on the skills from 301 and beyond and culminates in a graduation show at the Covert Theatre. In addition, the course will better prepare you for the Covert Theatre’s auditions for long form shows like Double Down, The After Party, and Spellbound and others. This workshop will give you a better understanding of teamwork in improv as you will get a lot of reps with the same group of people, understand how each of you play, and what creative sparks fly when you build trust over a long period.

During the course you’ll deepen your long form improv skills by practicing Premise and Organic openings, choosing and framing the 'comic motor' to play the game of the scene, creating memorable characters and relationships, saying less but contributing more, practicing those editing skills, increasing your confidence on stage, and more! These skills will help you pay more attention to your scene partner, quickly and economically establish a scene in the first few lines, identifying ‘what is this scene about’ and making this clear to your scene partners, and bringing back characters and stories that still have more to give to the audience.
