Frequently Asked Questions

About Shows

Are there any age restrictions?

No. Our shows are rated M for Mature Audiences unless it’s specified that it’s a family show. There are no age restrictions for shows but we recommend good judgement as it is unscripted theatre and there may be R rated content such as strong language and adult themes. If the show is promoted as a kids/family show then it will be clean comedy.

Do I need to purchase tickets in advance?

Yes. This is highly recommended as shows do sell out. Online ticket purchases guarantees you a seat.

Can I reserve tickets over the phone?

No. We do not offer phone reservations or ticket sales. All our tickets are available online or can be purchased in person during box office hours, which are one hour before showtime.

Do you offer refunds or can we exchange tickets?

No. We have a strict no refund or exchange policy unless of course the show is cancelled.

Do you have accessible seating?

Yes. We are able to retract four seats in the front row to allow for two wheelchairs. Please contact us prior to the show if you require the accessible seating because if a show sells out then we’ll be unable to retract the seating. If you have paid for a ticket and would like to reserve a front row seat (so you don’t have to go up the stairs) then contact us either by phone or email and we can reserve a seat for you.

What time should I arrive?

We recommend arriving at least 20 minutes early before the theatre doors open. The box office and bar opens one hour before showtime. The doors to the theatre open approximately 15 minutes before showtime. You are more than welcome to make use of our fully licensed bar before the show starts. Latecomers admitted into the theatre at the Covert’s discretion - no refunds will be given.

Can my friends/group be seated together even though it’s General Admission?

We can do our best to sit your group together but we can’t make any promises. We recommend that all your group is there before the doors open to improve your chances of sitting together.

Can we eat or drink before, during, after the show?

Yes, no, yes. You can get food and drink before and after the show but not during. Once the show starts, you’re in. We serve delicious Il Buco pizza and have crisps and chocolate for snacks. We have a fully licensed bar with a gorgeous coffee machine and there are plenty of good restaurants within walking distance if you want a sit down meal before or after a show. By all means stay after the show and have a drink – you’ll probably meet the cast and crew.

How long is the show?

Most shows including Festival shows are 60-minutes long. The Thursday show is 90-minutes with an interval.

Is there parking at the venue?

No. Please do NOT park at the theatre or you will be towed. We do have one accessible car park outside the theatre for vehicles with an accessible parking sticker. We recommend if you’re drinking then you use a ride share service, taxi or public transport. Bicycles and scooters are handy if you’re not drinking. There is Parkable service at the Countdown car park on Williamson Ave, which is approximately $2 per hour and street parking within a short walk to the theatre.

Can I book a private show?

Yes you can. Contact us to find out how.

Can I hire the theatre?

Yes you can. The venue is available for hire from 8am - 4pm most days. Contact us to find out how.

About Workshops

How do I join the Covert?

The first step in joining is to do the age-appropriate workshops. Once you’ve completed that you’re then eligible to apply to join the Covert. We run an invitation-only membership.

I’ve done improv before, can I skip the workshops and join the theatre?

No. The Covert prides itself on its very supportive culture. The workshops are the opportunity for us to test each other out and see if we’re the right match for each other.

But I’m really experienced!

Ok. Experience is not a substitute for being a good fit. However, let’s talk and see what we can work out but no guarantees.

Do you offer refunds?

No. Contact us to see if we can make alternative arrangements (excluding a refund) such as putting you on another program but we can’t guarantee anything.
